We conducted an exposure programme under the guidance of the National Centre (SEDEC), through Caritas EHED Batticaloa, in order to build Sustainable Peace and Reconciliation among the major communities, Sinhala and Tamil.
About 55 Sinhalese from Dambulla and Rotawewa areas visited 'Pawakkudichenai' and 'Ghanthi Puram' villages in the war torn areas of Batticaloa district and shared their living experience with the Tamils in their residences for three days.
These two communities jointly took part in a religious observance in the 'Santha Malai' Hindu temple and prayed for peace and harmony in the country and not to occur a war in future.
On the final day, the Sinhalese community extended an invitation to their Tamil counter parts to visit their area. This exposure programme immensely both communities to improve their unity and harmony.
