Another programme was conducted at the Divisional Secretariat, Deltota, on 12th October 2012 pertaining to safe migration, unsafe migration and its adverse effects with the participation of 14 Grama Niladari Officers.

Youth Day Seminar 2012

The Commemoration of the International Youth Day, was conducted as a seminar with the participation of youth leaders from the remote rural and plantation areas in the districts of Kandy, Matale, Nuwara Eliya and the youth groups in the parishes.

Another Great Opportunity Dawned for public service

We got a great opportunity on the 21st & 22nd of September 2012 to expand our services to commence a water and gender programme in collaboration with the National Centre (SEDEC).  Foreign delegates from CAFOD, SEDEC - Colombo, and Sri Lankan representative of CAFOD had been present on this occasion.

After having a primary discussion with the SETIK staff, the delegation made a field inspection and directly involved with the project community at Graganguild estate in Kandy District and Magastota estate in Nuwara Eliya District.

One Day Training Programme

"After this programme, a great change has been taken place of the children.  Now, they have a firm desire and determination for studies.  Their discipline has been improved virtuously."  These are the views expressed by the vice principal and the class teacher......

Two, leadership and personality development programmes were conducted at the Hatton Centre and at the SETIK Kandy on the 7th, 8th & 9th and on the 15th & 16th of September 2012 respectively.

Psychosocial Counselors Forum

Child abuses are rising rapidly in Sri Lankan society now.  In order to address this issue, we conducted the psychosocial counselors forum at SETIK Auditorium on the 30th of August 2012, with the participation of 44 psychosocial counselors attached to various government institutions and non government organizations in the central province, with the theme of "the role of psychosocial field in eradicating children abuse".

A long discussion was held about the increasing incidents of child abuse in the central province and the responsibility of the parents to protect their children from offenders.  A number of proposals was also placed before this forum.

The next sitting of this forum is due to be held at 10.00 a.m. on the 18th of October 2012 at the SETIK auditorium.  All counselors who are keen on this subject are kindly requested to be present for this forum.
