Child abuses are rising rapidly in Sri Lankan society now. In order to address this issue, we conducted the psychosocial counselors forum at SETIK Auditorium on the 30th of August 2012, with the participation of 44 psychosocial counselors attached to various government institutions and non government organizations in the central province, with the theme of "the role of psychosocial field in eradicating children abuse".
A long discussion was held about the increasing incidents of child abuse in the central province and the responsibility of the parents to protect their children from offenders. A number of proposals was also placed before this forum.
The next sitting of this forum is due to be held at 10.00 a.m. on the 18th of October 2012 at the SETIK auditorium. All counselors who are keen on this subject are kindly requested to be present for this forum.
